You've got it all backwards.

I have had the Garmin Forerunner 405 for over a year.
I am very happy with The Forerunner, at least since the first updates, the web site interface is great.
The battery in the heart rate monitor lasted about 12 months.
Recently I hit the 1,000 lap limit to the internal Garmin Forerunner 405 database, thats right one thousand miles!
The Forerunner does remove the oldest laps automatically for you.
